Hi Jerry!

Here are a few Tips on comparing bands, DJ's and entertainers

  • It's best to start looking for a band as soon as the wedding date is set. When choosing a band time can be of the essence: Wait too long and the best musicians are generally booked up. At the same time don't be pressured into booking a band you may not like.
  • It's important to get at least 2-3 references from any orchestra and to check them out live or at the very least see a video/recording.
  • Sundays are generally the busiest and more expensive dates for orchestras.
  • A vocalist can add a lot of energy to an orchestra. Ask the band about their various vocalist and choose one whose style fits your needs and budget.
  • Are there any additional musical instruments you may want for your ceremony (i.e. violin, cello, harp)? String instruments can add touch of class to your affair and can usually be added for a minimal fee if just for the wedding ceremony.
  • It's also nice to have food set aside for the band members. Remember, performers work best when they are in a good mood. Do you function well when you are hungry?
  • Preparation is key to a successful affair and it's best to do your homework so things run smoothly. Choose a band that has expertise in your specific taste in music.
  • CompareLiveMusic.com can assist you by taking the hassle out of finding the right band at the right price.
  • Hope this helps!
